Adolescence today is laden with temptations, distractions and challenges like never before. We are fortunate that programs exist to help teens at all levels.

TEENS AT RISK

Adolescence is a period of development and change, and teenagers undergo rapid physical, emotional, and social growth. Teens can be moody, uncommunicative, and difficult to live with. Parents often ask themselves: “Is this normal?”

Common Warning Signs:

  • Over-reaction to minor setbacks
  • Blaming others for mistakes
  • A sense of entitlement
  • Low motivation or underachievement
  • Anxious mood
  • Perfectionism or inflexible thinking
  • Loss of interest in activities
  • Poor sleeping habits
  • Social problems or alliance with negative peer group
  • All-consuming relationships
  • Feelings of worthlessness, guilt or sadness
  • Issues with eating or with body image
  • Problems with authority and disrespectful behavior
  • Manipulation driven by high IQ
  • Defiance, hostility
  • Little empathy for others, lying
  • Substance abuse or dependence
  • Promiscuity
  • Addiction to internet, video or computer games

Our job at ITS is to help parents assess the issues and design the best action plan for the teen and the family.

Getting the right help is just as important as finding help for your teen. As we speak with you, we can discuss how a comprehensive assessment of your teenager’s school, social relationships, home life, and overall emotional well-being can put the entire family on a path to wellness.
